FiLApp: Empowering Marginalized Youth through financial Literacy

FiLApp (Financial Literacy App - Bridging the Gap for Marginalized Youth) is a research project launching in February 2025.

How do I manage my money? How much do I save and how do I invest it? To make good decisions like these, young people need a basic understanding of finances and money, known as "financial literacy." This topic is the focus of the project "FiLApp," in which LEAD members Prof. Dr. Taiga Brahm and Lucy Haag are involved and take on the operational project management.

Led by Prof. Dr. Taiga Brahm and Lucy Haag (University of Tübingen), the team also includes Prof. Dr. Andreas Rausch and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Seifried (University of Mannheim) as well as Dr. Ulf Kröhne (DIPF).

The project focuses on improving financial literacy among socially disadvantaged adolescents. The team will develop a differentiated competency model, tested in real-life scenarios, to create a smartphone-friendly assessment tool. This tool will boost motivation, provide diagnostics, and offer automated feedback as a support system.

Funded by a €330,326 BMBF grant as part of the BMBF funding of projects and research on financial education, the project will run for three years at the University of Tübingen.
