Public Engagement Strategy

Public Engagement – our approach

We understand Public Engagement as a dialogue between research and society, aimed at co-creating knowledge and generating value for society. We promote diverse forms of participation and embed Public Engagement strategically within the University of Tübingen.

Public Engagement can take many forms and levels of participation within a shared network of collaboration. Our approach provides support for the many ways in which researchers and different groups from the public and civil society interact and exchange ideas. It also reflects that science and society can both benefit from dialogue and collaboration.

The Principles for Public Engagement outline the values and principles that guide our work.

The Public Engagement Hub

Expanding societal engagement is one of the goals of the University of Tübingen’s Excellence Strategy. A key instrument in achieving this goal is the Public Engagement Hub - an agile team of experts that embeds Public Engagement as a core part of the university’s identity by connecting strategy, practice, and research. The Hub actively contributes to realizing the vision of an open and socially engaged university.
