Looted Art from the Nazi Era in the University Library
Object of the Month for June and July
During the Nazi regime from 1933 to 1945, people were persecuted, deprived of their rights, and murdered for religious, racial, political, or ideological reasons. In this context, many lost their property through forced sales, expropriations, or confiscations. Cultural assets that were unlawfully taken from them are referred to as Nazi-looted property.
In our expanded “Object of the Month” series for June and July, we would like to provide insight into the work on the topic of Nazi-looted property and share the personal stories behind the book donations to the University Library of Tübingen.
