Serena Lombardo is a Palaeolithic archaeologist and currently a PhD candidate at the University of Tübingen within the ERC-funded FIRSTSTEPS project. Her research focuses on the lithic technology of Upper Palaeolithic assemblages from Greece and Italy.
In 2022, she obtained a Postgraduate Specialization Diploma in Archaeological Heritage (EQF Level 8) from the University of Pisa. Prior to this, she completed an M.A. in Archaeology (Prehistoric Curriculum) in 2019, with a thesis on the Epigravettian site of Riparo Fredian, investigating lithic technology, reduction sequences, raw material management, and procurement strategies.
She earned a B.A. in Cultural Heritage Sciences from the University of Pisa in 2017. Her undergraduate thesis examined changes in raw material procurement and exploitation during the transition from the Middle to the Upper Palaeolithic at Grotta La Fabbrica.
