Individual work spaces

On the one hand, the University Library has a large number of individual work spaces, which can be found throughout the library (see Guidance System), and on the other, special quiet areas, that particularly support concentrated work:

• Learning Center in the quite learning area (Lernzentrum)
• Historic Reading Room (Historischer Lesesaal)
• Manuscript Reading Room (Handschriftenlesesaal)
• Doctoral candidate area (Doktorandenbereich)

If you prefer to work standing up or alternate between sitting and standing, you can borrow the so-called "Monkey Desks" from the counter in the Ammerbau. These consist of foldable cardboard boxes that can be used to elevate normal work desks. Writing utensils, books or even laptops can thus be easily used at a comfortable standing height.
