The principal focus of the research of the Medieval German Studies department concerns questions of Literary Theory and Aesthetics, religious knowledge, Performativity (particularly of pre-modern drama), historical Anthropology (especially analysis of emotions and Thing Theory), as well as editions of historical texts. Research is constituted of historical and systematic individual projects, in addition to interdisciplinary research connections within the framework of research training groups (GRK), doctoral training network and special research fields (SFB).
