This past May, Prof. Dr. Rebecca A. Zakrajsek from the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, along with two doctoral students, visited the Department of Sport Psychology and Research Methods in Tübingen. In addition to interesting workshops, in which scientific approaches for talent research and sport psychological training methods (relational resilience in sport, psychological skills in youth tennis, youth soccer players’ motor development in early adolescence, decision making of youth soccer players) were discussed, representatives from Tübingen and Knoxville together attended the annual conference of the “Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Sportpsychologie” (German Sport Psychology Association) in Bern, Switzerland. Individuals from Tübingen and Knoxville organized two symposiums and presented five individual lectures as well as one key note.
For the future, the two groups plan to further intensify the research collaboration and continue to be represented at national and international conferences (e.g., the Association for Applied Sport Psychology’s annual conference in Orlando, Florida this October).
