LEAD Graduate School & Research Network
LEAD steht für Learning, Educational Achievement, and Life Course Development. Über 100 Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus unterschiedlichen Fachbereichen arbeiten bei LEAD gemeinsam an Kernfragen der Empirischen Bildungsforschung. Das Hector-Institut nimmt dabei eine federführende Rolle ein.
Forscherinnen und Forscher aus 25 Einrichtungen haben sich zusammengeschlossen, um ihre Expertise zu bündeln und die Sichtbarkeit ihrer Forschung zu Bildungsfragen bei Akteurinnen und Akteuren in Bildungspolitik und Bildungsadministration sowie in der Öffentlichkeit zu erhöhen.
Nationales Bildungspanel (NEPS)
Das Nationale Bildungspanel NEPS (National Educational Panel Study) erhebt längsschnittliche Daten zu Bildungsprozessen. Die Daten bieten ein reichhaltiges Analysepotential für verschiedene an Bildungs- und Ausbildungsprozessen interessierte Disziplinen.
Forschungsnetzwerk „Portfolioarbeit in der Bildung“
Das Forschungsnetzwerk „Portfolioarbeit in der Bildung“ will hochwertige und standortübergreifende Forschung zur Portfolioarbeit vorantreiben, um eine systematische Datenbasis zur Weiterentwicklung von Portfolios im Bildungskontext zu schaffen.

These grants are intended to cover initial project expenses (e.g., pilot studies, experiments, or feasibility tests). They are designed to support the early exploration of research ideas, with the clear expectation that there is an obvious pathway to a publication in a high- prestige journal and/or a subsequent application for larger, external funding (e.g., DFG) will follow. Typically, EGs can have a duration of up to 18 months.
In well-justified cases, funding is available for replacement teaching at the professorial level that gives the applicant the time to work on a larger research proposal.

Institute's professors and junior research group leaders
These grants support larger or more advanced research projects aligned with the Institute’s strategic priorities. HFGs aim to transform the institute’s interconnectedness and seek to increase the quality of its research. They intend to promote world-class research using innovative methodological approaches. Priority will be given to projects that connect at least two Research Hubs. HFGs can also be used to increase international collaborations, including the invitation of distinguished international professors or the recruitment ofinternationally co-sponsored PhD candidates. Typically, EGs can have a duration up to 3 years.
Who can apply?
All Institute's professors and junior research group leaders as Principal Investigators (PIs); Postdoctoral scholars as PI if a professor is Co-PI; Collaborators from other institutes are welcome to contribute to the funding proposals but the money cannot be transferred to other universities.
