A delegation from National Taiwan University (NTU Taipei) headed by the university’s president, Professor Dr. Pan-Chyr Yang visited the University of Tübingen on Tuesday. “There has been a close and very fruitful relationship between the NTU and the University of Tübingen for more than ten years,” said President Bernd Engler in his welcoming address. “The great importance of Taiwan for our University can be seen among other things in the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan (ERCCT) at the University of Tübingen.” Professor Dr. Pan-Chyr Yang was accompanied by the NTU’s Vice-President for International Affairs, Professor Dr. Luisa Shu-Ying Chang and its Director for Global Alliances, Linda Chang.

The bilateral talks included topics such as stepping up co-operation in research, possible joint research projects, and the expansion of student and academic staff exchanges between the two institutions. On Tuesday afternoon, the delegation was welcomed at the Center for Plant Molecular Biology (ZMBP) and at the University of Tübingen Museum at Hohentübingen Castle. This was followed by talks with researchers in a number of disiplines including Medicine, Romance Languages and Literatures, and with the Division of International Affairs - Study and Exchange Programs.

NTU is one of the University of Tübingen’s important strategic partners. A Tübingen delegation headed by Professor Engler was welcomed at NTU in 2016 as part of the Tübingen Research World Tour.
