Baden-Württemberg Foundation: International excellence in research 2026
Deadline December 1st 2026
With the programme “International excellence in research 2026” (Internationale Spitzenforschung 2026), the Baden-Württemberg Foundation promotes collaboration between internationally outstanding leading scientists from abroad and research groups in Baden-Württemberg. It invites internationally high-calibre research groups from Baden-Württemberg to apply with co-operative research projects. Prerequisite: The researchers from Baden-Württemberg and the international partners are already working on the project topic at the highest level.
The aim of the open-topic programme is to promote excellent, internationally visible and competitive research projects in Baden-Württemberg in promising fields of research. Interdisciplinary projects involving research groups from different departments working together to solve problems are possible. The project must fit in with the strategic orientation of the university or non-university research institution and demonstrate a high degree of innovation. The central criterion for the funding of a project is cooperation with a top international researcher. Collaboration with several researchers is also possible.
The projects run for up to three years and are funded with up to €500,000 (+20% overhead). Funding is provided for personnel, material and travelling expenses required for the project work in Baden-Württemberg. In exceptional cases, investment costs may be partially covered. Expenses such as travelling expenses are funded for the top foreign scientists.
Proposals have to be handed in in agreement with the President's Office.
Expressions of interest have to be submitted until December 1st to nathalie.walkerspam prevention@uni-tuebingen.de
Expressions of interest must include:
- short description of the proposal (1-2 pages)
- rough financial plan
- CVs of all participants (max. 2 pages per CV)
