Biography

Sascha Klotzbücher holds a doctorate from the University of Vienna (Das ländliche Gesundheitswesen der VR China: Strukturen, Akteure, Dynamik (Rural health care in the People’s Republic of China: Structures, agencies, dynamics), published in 2006) and a habiliation in Chinese studies from University of Vienna with a book titled "Lange Schatten der Kulturrevolution: Eine transgenerationale Sicht auf Politik und Emotion in der Volksrepublik China” (Long shadows of the Cultural Revolution. A trans-generational analysis of politics and emotion in the People’s Republic of China), forthcoming in Summer 2018 with Psychosozial-Verlag. Currently, he is working as post-doctoral researcher in the Department for East Asian Studies at the University of Vienna on medical conflicts, violence and patient-physician relationship in mainland China. Working on affective politics in China during his stay as Taiwan Fellow at the National Chengchi University in 2016, he explored spatial perspectives on Chiang statues on Taiwanese university campus. In the last two years, Sascha conducted field studies on social innovations of and for ageing people in Wuhan and Taipei.
