Tübingen students, here is your chance - Explore current European topics together with students from Japan
We are looking for students here at the University of Tübingen to join our tailor-made program free of charge.
We would like our students from Japan to experience classes involving other Tübingen students.
The Doshisha EU Campus European Studies Program is a tailor-made program offered by Doshisha University, one of the oldest and most respected universities in Japan, located in Kyoto, in cooperation with University of Tübingen's "Tübingen International & European Studies" (T-IES) program.
The aim of the program is to provide Doshisha undergraduate students a 5-month study abroad experience at the University of Tübingen and to complement and enrich their course of study with seminars focusing on Europe and the European Union. Courses will be taught by Doshisha University faculty (taught in Japanese or in English) and the University of Tübingen faculty (taught completely in English) including field works free of charge!
The program is open to ANYBODY up to 5 students per class (on a first-come, first-served basis).

- you wish to broaden your intercultural competence
- you wish to explore student life with Japanese students

Admission and Application
Admission
- The courses are open to undergraduate students from all disciplines who wish to gain a basic knowledge of Europe and the European Union from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. Participation in the courses incl. field work is free of charge
- Very good command of English
- Very good command of Japanese for the courses taught in Japanese
Registration
- All coures are open up to 5 Tübingen students (on a first-come, first-served basis)
- Registration possible until two weeks before the beginning of the course

Credits & Grades
- T-IES courses: up to 3 ECTS Credits per course (3 ECTS incl. field work and exam; 2 ECTS incl. exam; 1 ECTS without field work / exam)
- Doshisha courses: 2 ECTS Credits per course (without exam)
- The courses can be awarded credit points in the transdisciplinary competencies module.
Social Program
The social program includes a Welcome Reception and Farewell Evening, cultural activities as well as social gatherings.
You will get the chance to experience other cultures, explore Tübingen and its surroundings - a perfect chance get to know your classmates and buddies better and have fun together.
Participation in the activities is optional and you can register during the first week of the program on our blog.
Buddy Program
To support our students from Japan during their stay in Tübingen and to promote an intercultural exchange we have set up a Buddy Program in which a student of the University of Tübingen teams up with an T-IES participant. The Buddy Program aims to initiate a cultural exchange between international students and the Tübingen students, to expand one’s own cultural horizon, as well as the strengthening of intercultural skills and competences. The Buddy Program will allow our students to get to know German student life first-hand and to make friends. More here.
Tübingen Students of Japanese Studies
Students of Japanese Studies at the University of Tübingen can participate in the T-IES "Buddy Program" in which Tübingen and Doshisha students can interact and get to know each other. Please write to us at info @european-studies.uni-tuebingen.de
