About the event:
Global challenges like the climate crisis or the pollution of our environment with plastic waste call for new technologies to solve these problems. One possibility could be hidden in green little bugs, so called cyanobacteria. They absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and are naturally producer of a biodegradable plastic, "PHB". Dr. Moritz Bross and his colleagues applied metabolic engineering techniques to optimize and streamline the carbon flux within the cyanobacterial cells. This allowed a more direct conversion from CO2 to the bioplastic PHB. In his talk, Dr. Bross will further describe how this technology works and will elaborate on the potential and limitations of the latter.
Don't miss this chance to explore a greener, more sustainable future! We look forward to meeting you online.
