Neu in Tübingen? Stadtführung mit Baubürgermeister Cord Soehlke

Neu in Tübingen und neugierig? Tübingens Baubürgermeister Cord Soehlke lädt am Samstag, den 25. April 2026, zu einer Einführung in aktuelle Stadtentwicklungsprojekte ein. Besonders Studierende, die 2025 oder 2026 gestartet sind, erhalten dabei spannende Einblicke in die Stadt.

Was passiert da eigentlich rund um den Bahnhof? Wie bekommt Tübingen eine bessere Infrastruktur für das Fahrrad? Warum ist das Französische Viertel ein Quartier, das Architekten aus ganz Europa besuchen? Wie kann in einer teuren Stadt wie Tübingen eigentlich bezahlbarer Wohnraum – auch, aber nicht nur für Studierende – entstehen? Und warum ist Tübingen eine Stadt, in der viele innovative Ideen und Konzepte verwirklicht werden? 

Die Veranstaltung besteht aus drei Teilen: einem Besuch im Technischen Rathaus mit einer Einführung, einer Tour über den Europaplatz und einer Besichtigung des Französischen Viertels. Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer bringen idealerweise ihr Fahrrad mit, alle Wege können aber auch gut und gratis mit dem TüBus zurückgelegt werden.

Zur Person: Cord Soehlke ist Baubürgermeister der Universitätsstadt Tübingen sowie Erster Bürgermeister – und damit ständiger allgemeiner Stellvertreter des Oberbürgermeisters. Der Architekt ist seit mehr als 20 Jahren als Stadtplaner in Tübingen tätig. Wichtige Projekte waren die Südstadtentwicklung mit dem Französischen Viertel und dem Loretto, das Mühlenviertel, das Baugebiet am Alexanderpark und die Entwicklung der Alten Weberei (ehemals Egeria). Im Rahmen dieser Aufgaben ist Cord Soehlke Autor zahlreicher Vorträge und Veröffentlichungen zu Themen der Stadt- und Brachflächenentwicklung.

New to Tübingen and curious about the city? Tübingen’s Debuty Major for urban planning and construction, Cord Soehlke, is offering an introduction to current urban development projects on Saturday, April 25, 2026, especially for those who began their studies in 2025 and 2026.

What’s actually happening around the main train station? How is Tübingen improving its infrastructure for cyclists? Why is the French Quarter a neighborhood that architects from all over Europe visit? How can affordable housing—not just for students, but for everyone—actually be created in an expensive city like Tübingen? And why is Tübingen a city where so many innovative ideas and concepts are brought to life? 

The event consists of three parts: a visit to the Technical City Hall with an introduction, a tour of Europaplatz, and a visit to the French Quarter. Participants are encouraged to bring their bicycles, though all routes can also be easily and freely covered by the TüBus.

About the speaker: Cord Soehlke is the Deputy Major for urban planning and construction of the university city of Tübingen as well as First Deputy Mayor. The architect has been working as an urban planner in Tübingen for more than 20 years. Key projects include the development of the southern city district with the French Quarter and Loretto, the Mühlenviertel, the development area at Alexanderpark, and the redevelopment of the Alte Weberei (formerly Egeria). In connection with these responsibilities, Cord Soehlke is the author of numerous lectures and publications on topics related to urban and brownfield development.
