Advisory Board for Sustainable Development

The Advisory Board for Sustainable Development is made up by approx. 20 persons from the professorate, the non-professorial teaching staff, the administration, the student body and one external member. All members of the Advisory Board work on a voluntary basis; they are appointed by the President’s Office based on suggestions of the Advisory Board.

History

The constitution of an Advisory Board for Sustainable Development was suggested in 2010 at the urging of the student initiative “Greening the University“ in connection with the EMAS Certification in the environmental programme of the University of Tübingen. The “Advisory Board for Sustainable Development“ was first appointed for the winter term 2010/2011 as an advisory commission of the President’s Office.

The Advisory Board's Tasks

The Advisory Board for Sustainable Development “shall formulate recommendations to the President’s Office for a comprehensive sustainability strategy of the University of Tübingen and thus contribute to the development of a strategy for sustainable development in teaching, research and administration, and to its implementation. The Advisory Board shall connect actors from the field of sustainable development, conceptualise and accompany projects in the sense of the sustainable development of the University of Tübingen and communicate them to the public within and outside the university.
