Financing Erasmus+ worldwide

The financial support for Erasmus+ stays in partner countries consists of a monthly grant and a one-off travel allowance depending on the distance traveled.

The monthly grant amounts to 700 € and is paid out as a lump sum for 3 months per semester (a total of 2,100 € for one semester or 4,200 € for two semesters).

The one-off travel allowance is calculated using the EU Commission's "Distance Calculator" and is based on the distance between the place of departure and the destination of the mobility.

• Stays up to 89 days:                              calculated on a daily basis
• One semester stays:                             3 monthly installments as a lump sum
• Two semester stays:                             6 monthly installments as a lump sum

Before the start of your stay abroad, you will receive the Grant Agreement, which informs you about the approval, the funding period and the amount of the grant. 

After arriving at the partner university and submitting the Certificate of Arrival document, the first instalment and the travel grant will be paid to you. The following two monthly instalments are paid at the beginning of the respective month. The last instalment is a normal monthly instalment minus 300 Euros. The social top up is paid, if relevant, at the same time as the monthly instalments.

The remaining amount (300 Euros) will be paid out after your return, once you have submitted all the necessary documents to the Erasmus+ office or uploaded them to the Mobility-Online portal.

 Incomplete or late submission of documents may result in a partial or full refund of the scholarship.

Participation in the Erasmus+ program is also possible without claiming the mobility grant (as a so-called 'zero grant student'), provided that the valid Erasmus+ conditions are met. Zero grant students have regular Erasmus+ status (i.e.  among other things, they are exempt from tuition fees at the host university) and must register in Mobility-Online. They are required to submit all necessary documents to the Erasmus office.

Please note: Erasmus+ students at the University of Tübingen (including zero grant students) are not eligible for the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship.

The prerequisite for Green Travel is that students reach their place of stay by train, long-distance bus, ferry or carpool. The decisive factor is whether at least 51% of the outward and return journey is covered by the specified means of transportation. In addition, the mobility funding period can be extended by up to four days in this case.

 IMPORTANT: you will receive the Green Travel supplement instead of the standard travel supplement and not additionally.
