President expresses condolences to relatives of victims and the entire University of Nottingham

Two students fall victim to violence in Nottingham city center

Following the violent deaths of two students, the President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Tübingen, Professor Karla Pollmann, has sent a message of condolence to her British colleague, Professor Shearer West, and West's deputy, Professor Jane Norman. It states:

“I was appalled to hear the latest news from Nottingham today and am deeply shaken that students from your university are among the victims of this terrible act of violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, their friends, and all members of the University of Nottingham. The recent events have undoubtedly come as a shock to you all. However, I am confident that the students and staff of your university are standing together and holding each other up during this difficult time. To the entire University of Nottingham community, I offer my condolences and sympathies.”

The University of Nottingham has had close ties with the University of Tübingen for many years. The two universities have already been cooperating in teaching since 2017, and have established three joint master's programs in economics by now. Last January, Nottingham and Tübingen also concluded a strategic partnership agreement, committing to joint investments in the areas of research, teaching and innovation.
