Matariki network renews Memorandum of Understanding

Long-standing collaboration extended for another five years

University of Tübingen President Professor Dr. Karla Pollmann signing the Memorandum of Understanding

The Matariki Network of Universities has officially renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), strengthening their long‑standing global partnership first formed in 2010. The renewed agreement brings the currently six member institutions together for another five years of collaboration in research, teaching, leadership, and social responsibility.

The newly signed MoU is a shared commitment to:

  • academic, student, and professional mobility,
  • building cross‑institution research networks,
  • sharing best practice and benchmarking,
  • advancing social responsibility globally,
  • a strong, values‑led governance model.

The renewed MoU reaffirms the Network’s mission to work collectively for meaningful global impact and to keep building a connected, internationally engaged university community.

Since 2022, the network has supported six short-/mid-term priorities under the guidance of its five guiding principles:

  1. develop/refine curricular and co-curricular collaborative activities for students,
  2. foster research collaborations,
  3. collective advocacy and action on big issues,
  4. intensify engagement,
  5. civic engagement, and
  6. raise MNU’s profile and global reach.

The most visible actions since then have been the Matariki Research Seed Fund, the 3MT Competition, and the Matariki Engagament Grant.
