Civis offers for students and doctoral candidates

CIVIS enables students and doctoral candidates to gain international experience. To this end, the alliance partners offer various course and mobility formats: from short-term stays to entire semesters abroad, from seminars face-to-face in the classroom to hybrid and online events. All offers open up new perspectives.

New Blended Intensive Programmes: Apply now!

Would you like to learn together with other students from across Europe? The Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) combine online teaching with a study week abroad. A BIP is worth 3 to 6 ECTS credits; funding to help cover the cost of travel is available. Find out more about BIPs, check out the new courses in the course catalogue and apply by 3 May!

Sciences en Scène: Summer school on creative science communication

“Sciences en Scène” is a summer school in French designed for doctoral researchers eager to explore new forms of science communication through performance, storytelling, and artistic creation. The course, held from 6 to 10 July in Lausanne, immerses participants in creative workshops led by artists, science mediators, and journalists. Discover the program and apply by 30th April!

Student Creathon: Take on the challenge of fake news!

CIVIS Students are invited to tackle disinformation and its impact on our society in a creathon. For this year's topic “Fake It Till You News It: Challenges and Solutions in the Modern Media” , teams will design innovative solutions for today’s complex media landscape and present them during the CIVIS Days in Bucharest from 10 to 12 June. Get all information on the creathon and submit your proposal by 19 April 2026!

Studying abroad

The CIVIS alliance allows Bachelor and Master students additional places for Erasmus exchange for one or two semesters. The application for an Erasmus exchange in the framework of CIVIS is the same as for the regular Erasmus exchange.

CIVIS courses

Whether online only or with short joint stays at one of the partner universities, students and doctoral candidates of the CIVIS alliance have access to a wide range of courses. Further information on content and application procedures can be found in the CIVIS course catalogue.

  • Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) consist of a series of online classes combined with a one-week attendance phase at a CIVIS university. They are offered in different subjects. More information about the financial support of the stay abroad through the Erasmus+ program in Tübingen on the webpage on short-term programs

CIVIS master's programs

CIVIS offers several master's programs, which have been jointly designed by at least three CIVIS members and are taught at different universities. All programs are typically interdisciplinary and enable students to experience diverse academic cultures and build international networks. Further information on the CIVIS master's programs website

In a micro-programme, you can take courses from different CIVIS partners and combine them to create a certificate. Students and doctoral candidates of the University of Tübingen can currently take the following CIVIS micro-programmes:

Language courses

To enable joint learning and teaching within the CIVIS Alliance, the Foreign Language Center offers courses in languages of the CIVIS universities for students and doctoral candidates. An overview of the language courses, from Modern Greek to Swedish, can be found on the website of the Foreign Language Center.

Student-led projects

CIVIS supports extra-curricular activities and initiatives by CIVIS students. These student-led projects can focus on topics related to civic engagement, student academic and cultural events or the promotion of the European identity and values. They should aim to create a way through which students, academics and local actors can cooperate and follow a transdisciplinary approach for developing innovative and inclusive initiatives to drive societal change. CIVIS Ambassadors

The CIVIS Ambassadors are student ambassadors at the university and contact persons at peer level for incoming and outgoing students.
