Technical Equipment

For the production of high-quality films and photos, we have a large number of modern video and photo cameras (Sony PMW-100, Sony a7s, Canon EOS 5D Mark III). Matching accessories cover every possible need for journalistic reporting and the filming of scenes. Solid camera tripods,microphones and light equipment are just as much part of our equipment as mobile camera gimbals, 4K field recorders and DSLR shoulder rigs.

Whether for man-on-the-street surveys, sound bites or when capturing the right atmospheric sounds - the ZFM has the right microphone. We are also prepared to record concerts - from jazz and rock to classical music. In our high-quality sound studios with dhd mixing console, one person can control the technology as well as the speaking and moderating of a radio contribution at the same time. The campus radio Radio Micro-Europe puts a program on its feet every week. Reports, interviews with experts, extraordinary portraits - everything is made ready-for-radio with our professional guidance. And voiceovers and comments for television contributions are spoken "offstage."

With Lotte Reiniger, Tübingen has a true pioneer of animated film. In this tradition, the production of animated films is also made possible and promoted at the Center for Media Literacy. With our
animation tables, graphics tablets, and matching software solutions (Dragonframe, ProCreate, Adobe Creative Cloud), there's no limit to the creativity of producing stop-motion movies, silhouette
animations, and informative films.

We are also well-equipped for the post-processing of image and sound recordings. In our PC pool, students have access to 14 editing stations, where they can edit their media projects. Audacity and ProTools can create complex sound designs from original, atmospheric and effects recordings. Film recordings can be edited in Adobe Premiere CC and Avid Media Composer, and get their finishing touches in Adobe After Effects. Even cinema-quality mixing with Dolby 5.1 technology is possible in the film editing suite.

We regularly produce live broadcasts in our TV studio. Our recording studio is equipped with three
modern HD cameras, which are controlled in the adjacent director's room. We also broadcast events live outside the studio. With our mobile direction unit, we report on cultural and scientific events at the University of Tübingen.
