Call for donations: Support for Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv

The University of Tübingen shares a call for donations for its partner institution, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. After severe attacks on energy infrastructure, electricity and heating are lacking. Those who wish to help ensure that teaching can continue: donations are being collected until 31 March 2026 by the non-profit association Ukrainer in Stuttgart e. V. (earmarked).

The University of Tübingen shares an urgent appeal for support from its Ukrainian partner university in Kyiv. After massive attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure, students and staff there have repeatedly been left without electricity and heating for weeks.

To maintain teaching and research operations and to support students and staff, devices for electricity generation, storage, and heating are urgently needed (including generators, battery systems, power banks, solar technology).
The non-profit association Ukrainer in Stuttgart e. V. has set up an earmarked fundraising campaign running until 31 March 2026. Donations will be used, in close coordination with the university in Kyiv, for the procurement and transport of the required equipment.

Orientation program for Ukrainian students

The University of Tübingen offers orientation studies for Ukrainian students. During this period, you can attend courses, take single exams and get oriented at the university. We will make every effort to match you with students from our university. These students are from your department and will assist and advise you. During this orientation program, you can orient yourself at our university and get prepared for further studies.

Buddy Program for Ukrainian Student Refugees

Tübingen University offers a buddy program for all new students. Those who have fled Ukraine are welcome to note in the Buddy Program registration whether they want a Ukrainian experienced Buddy. If your focus is more on a Buddy from the same subject area, rather than based on nationality, there is no need to make a remark.

Solidarity Statement of University of Tübingen

"We are horrified and deeply concerned about what is happening in Kyiv and the whole country”

The University of Tübingen joins scholars and scientists from around the world in strongly condemning the Russian attack on Ukraine. "We are horrified and deeply concerned about what is happening in Kyiv and the whole country and will support students as well as researchers in need," said Professor Monique Scheer, Vice-President for International Affairs. The university is in contact with its cooperation partners at Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv, offers support services as part of its membership in Scholars at Risk, and will seek support for refugee students and researchers. At the moment, no Tübingen students are staying in Kyiv as part of our exchange agreement. The International Office is in contact with four Tübingen students who are currently in Moscow. 

A total of 52 students with Ukrainian citizenship are currently enrolled at the University of Tübingen, including 14 doctoral students. The University's leadership is with them and their families in their thoughts during this highly uncertain time. With its expression of solidarity, also together with its European university alliance CIVIS, it reaffirms the university's commitment to respect for human dignity, freedom of opinion and speech, and freedom of science and research, as set out in its mission statement.
