Job advertisement: Scientific staff positions (f/m/d) to be filled

In the research group SCRATCH (Society, Culture and Technological Change) on questions of data and AI ethics in the security sector. Pay grade TV-L E 13 (100%).

The staff member is involved in externally funded projects with the following main topics:
• Conditions and operationalizability of "trustworthy artificial intelligence".
• Tension between ethical requirements and context-related practical operationalization.
• Technification of migration control and criminal investigation.
The duration of the open positions is linked to the duration of the externally funded projects (which is either 28/02/2025, subject to final approval, or 14/06/2023, depending on the project). Part-time arrangements are possible. We are also welcoming tandem applications.

Applicants are expected to have the following qualifications:
• A Master's degree in Philosophy, Science and Technology Studies, Sociology, Social Anthropology, Political Science, or other social science or humanities discipline.
• Knowledge of one or more project topics. A relevant PhD is a plus, but not a must.
• A good written and oral expression in German already present at the time of employment is also required due to the necessity to write reports in German.
• Competencies in the field of ethics of technology and/or applied ethics in general, or if not trained in the field of ethics, a demonstrated interest in ethical issues and approaches.
• A willingness and ability to work across disciplines.
