Uni-Tübingen

Networking Day “Sustainability Strategy”

The University of Tübingen is currently developing a Strategy for Sustainable Development. This process is being led collaboratively by the Vice-President for Sustainable Development, the Competence Center for Sustainable Development (CCSD), and the Office for Digital Transformation and Change Management.

On July 21, 2025, various members of the university who are professionally or personally engaged in topics related to sustainable development came together to discuss the first draft of the university’s sustainability strategy.

At the beginning of the event, participants were introduced to a draft version of the strategy. The organizers outlined the university’s understanding of sustainable development, its vision and mission, and presented the key goals and corresponding measures of the strategy:

  1. Establishing a culture of sustainable development throughout the university.

  2. Embedding sustainability in research and teaching, positioning them as drivers of sustainable transformation.

  3. Improving working conditions, quality of life, and environmental performance within the institution.

Subsequently, several working groups were formed to discuss, refine, and comment on specific sections of the strategy. The groups focused on the following topics: “Culture of Sustainable Development”, “Real-world Laboratories”, “Networking of Research, Teaching, and Society for Sustainable Development”, „Biodiversity“ & „Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions“.

Participants were also invited to provide further feedback, questions, and ideas, as well as to prioritize topics they considered particularly relevant. The valuable input collected during the Networking Day is currently being integrated into the final version of the strategy.

The event was organized by the Competence Center for Sustainable Development (CCSD) in collaboration with the Office for Digital Transformation and Change Management.
