Connect. Create. Change: Student Networking for a more Sustainable University
Under the motto “Connect. Create. Change: Student Networking for a More Sustainable University,” numerous members of student initiatives and groups met on June 27, 2025, at the Morgenstelle campus to connect, exchange ideas, identify common interests, and develop new project ideas.
Student engagement plays a crucial role in driving sustainable initiatives and projects at the University of Tübingen. The networking day, organized by the Competence Center for Sustainable Development (CCSD), was designed to support student initiatives in their work and foster stronger collaboration among them.
At the start of the event, participants gained an overview of the topics and projects their respective groups are currently working on, explored connections and synergies with other initiatives, and identified current student contact persons for various sustainability-related issues. Afterwards, participants created a shared inventory of skills, knowledge, and expertise their groups possess and are willing to share with others. The aim was to encourage mutual support among initiatives—for instance, through collaboration on public outreach, sharing grant-writing experience, or offering peer advice.
In the final part of the workshop, the CCSD invited participants to describe their networking needs, such as potential experts or university contacts they would like to meet and types of support they would find most beneficial for their work. This input will enable the CCSD to better connect and support student initiatives across the university.
All collected insights were compiled into a shared Miro board, which will remain accessible to student groups and be regularly updated at future meetings and events.
The Vice-Rector for Sustainable Development, Prof. Dr. Samuel Wagner, also attended the networking day, engaging in discussions and exchange with the participating students.
