From 8 June to 3 July 2026, the “Demokratie Zukunftsfest” will host the mobile installation “Politics on 13 Square Metres” at Europaplatz in Tübingen. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the installation invites visitors to stop by, listen and join the conversation.
The Democracy Machine
The University of Tübingen is participating with the “Democracy Machine”. In this interactive art project, developed by the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (ZKM), two participants answer social and political questions with either yes or no. If their answers differ, they are encouraged to exchange perspectives and discuss their arguments. The questions were developed by researchers from the University’s Collaborative Research Centre “Common Ground” and partly address topics related to Tübingen. The research centre investigates how mutual understanding can be achieved despite differing opinions.
The Democracy Future Festival is organised by the City of Tübingen and the University of Tübingen together with the Integrata Foundation Tübingen, the Global Ethic Institute, Team Tomorrow, the association Against Forgetting – For Democracy, and the elkiko Family Centre. Together, they create an open space for dialogue, participation and democratic culture.
