Certificate Entrepreneurship & Business

Basic business management knowledge is very useful in all industries for demanding positions in companies, non-profit organisations, administration or when founding a company. However, an overview of project management, human resources management and legal issues is just as important. In almost all professional contexts, those who can develop their own ideas, shape innovations and implement them successfully in an economic sense will also benefit. In short: entrepreneurial thinking and action are in demand!

With the Entrepreneurship & Business certificate, TRACS and the Startup Center at the University of Tübingen offer you the opportunity to acquire these skills – alongside your bachelor's degree – in the area of interdisciplinary skills and to effectively demonstrate them with a certificate.

Course offerings

To obtain the Entrepreneurship & Business certificate, you must earn at least 15 credit points (CP), at least six of which must be gained in the compulsory area and another nine in the elective area.

Since the courses in the compulsory area provide an overview of the subject matter, it makes sense – but is not mandatory – to take these first.

1. Compulsory area (mandatory, at least 6 CP):

In the compulsory area, you will acquire basic knowledge of applied business administration in two courses and learn the most important entrepreneurial skills.

2. Elective area (at least 9 CP):

In the elective courses, you can specifically expand and deepen the knowledge you have acquired in the compulsory area. Here you choose at least four courses from at least two of the following subject areas:

  • Project management/human resources
  • Legal aspects of starting and running a business
  • Developing and implementing innovations
  • Economic thinking and action

Information on the course offerings can be found for each semester on the websites of the Startup Center and the Transdisciplinary Course Programme (TCP), as well as on ALMA.
