Shaping the Future Together: TRACS Team Day Focuses on the Future of Transdisciplinary Skills Development and Career Orientation
How do we want to shape the future of TRACS, and what contribution do we want to make to students' personal, academic, and professional development? These questions were at the heart of our recent TRACS Team Day. The event focused on reflection, new perspectives, and the collaborative development of future-oriented ideas.
How can TRACS continue to support students in the best possible way while responding to changing demands? This guiding question shaped our recent Team Day, which was dedicated entirely to exploring the future of our work.
The day was inspired by the theme "The Future of TRACS – What do we want to achieve together, and what contribution do we want to make?" The aim was to bring together different perspectives on the future development of TRACS, identify shared priorities, and further strengthen collaboration within the team.
The programme began with an introduction to Otto Scharmer's Theory U. This approach encourages participants to embrace change consciously, adopt new perspectives, and shape the future not only by reflecting on the past but also by responding to emerging possibilities. These ideas provided the foundation for the collaborative activities throughout the day.
In preparation for the event, team members conducted interviews with external stakeholders, whose insights were discussed and reflected upon together. Through a range of interactive formats, including a Walk-to-Talk session and a mini World Café exploring different future scenarios, we developed ideas for the future direction of TRACS. Discussions addressed both unrestricted visions for the future and scenarios shaped by limited resources or fundamental societal changes, including the growing influence of artificial intelligence.
The day concluded with a joint reflection on the key insights and the identification of concrete topics to be pursued over the coming months. Beyond generating new ideas, the Team Day provided valuable opportunities for open dialogue, attentive listening, and shared reflection; essential foundations for continuing to develop TRACS in a forward-looking and collaborative way.
