Successful Spring School 2025: Communicating Uncertainty in Geosciences

From March 17 to 19, 2025, the Spring School on "Understanding the Unknowns: Communicating Uncertainty as a Driving Force for Geosciences" took place. The event, which was co-organised by our colleague Solmaz Mohadjer from Global Awareness Education, was a complete success!

The Spring School 2025 brought together an engaged group of Early Career Researchers from earth and environmental sciences to delve into the topic of uncertainty. Over three intensive days, valuable skills and knowledge were imparted to effectively communicate uncertainties in geoscientific data and models.

Under the direction of Solmaz Mohadjer, Michael Pelzer from the Research Centre for Science Communication and Peter Dietrich from the Department of Geosciences, the participants addressed the challenges of uncertainties in the geosciences. In interactive workshops and discussions, solutions and strategies for visualising uncertainties were developed for specialist and lay audiences.

The Spring School not only raised awareness of the importance of uncertainty communication but also laid the foundation for future collaborations.
