Semester Program and Course Registration from B1

How many German courses can I take in a semester?
  • 3 courses + choir and/or theater or:      
  • 1 Aufbaukurs (Intensive Course) + 1 additional course + theater and/or choir

Step 1: Semester program

Course program for the winter term 2026/27: on alma and in pdf.  

Step 2: Placement test

  • The placement test is mandatory. Course registration is only possible once we have uploaded your placement result in Alma.  
  • If you have already attended courses with us and want to move up to a higher level, a new test is required.
  • We cannot accept certificates from other institutions. Therefore, please make sure to take our test!
  • The test takes place online via Zoom (multiple choice test). Duration: up to 45 min. + 15 min. introduction and information

Save the date! Test dates in the winter semester 2026/27:

Monday, Oct. 54:00 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 84:00 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 124:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 134:00 p.m.

 

You will find a link for the zoom session 10 minutes ahead here. You don't need to register for the test. 

You are not sure wether you already achieved level A2/B1? Then, please try the test for levels A1/ A2 first or join the online consultation.

Step 3: Course advising

Are you unsure which course(s) to take? We will be happy to advise you on all your questions! 

Online Consulation in the winter term 2026/27 will will take place at the following dates:

  • Oct. 08., 10:00 - 11:30 a. m.
  • Oct. 12., 10:00 - 11:30 a. m.
  • Oct. 13., 10:00 - 11:30 a. m.
  • Oct. 14., 10:00 - 11:30 a. m.
  • Oct. 16., 10:00 - 11:30 a. m. (only for remaining course seats)

Step 4: Course registration

Please take the placement test first. Afterwards, you can register directly with us by e-mail for courses from B1 upwards. Please include the following information in the email: 

  • your preferred course(s)
  • your full name
  • your status at the university
  • your level in the placement test

The classes will start from Monday, October 19, 2026.
You can attend a maximum of 3 courses (plus choir / theater) or 1 more intensive class in the “Aufbaukurs” + 1 additional course (plus choir / theater) in the main registration.
