Application deadline for remaining places:

31 January 2026, 11:59 p.m., for a stay of one or two semesters starting from African Semester 2/2026 (Winter Semester 2026/27) at selected universities.

Next regular application deadline:

10 July 2026, 11:59 p.m., for African Semester 1/2027 (Summer Semester 2027) and/or African Semester 2/2027 (Winter Semester 2027/28).

The University of Tübingen maintains exchange relationships with six South African universities as well as universities in Botswana, Morocco, Mozambique,  Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda, Senegal and  Tunisia (see partner universities).


Possible length of stay

  • You can apply for a stay for the duration of one or two semesters, however, depending on the number of applicants, we may only be able to award stays of one semester.
  • If you apply in July of a given year, you can either go to Africa in the following summer semester or in the following winter semester.

Semester times in Africa

The African semester times do not coincide with the Tübingen semester times. This should be taken into consideration when planning your stay.

Semester 1: approx. from the beginning of February to June

Semester 2: approx. from the beginning of July to December.
