Self-study Course on Good Scientific Practice

The Graduate Academy offers a self-study course on Good Scientific Practice for doctoral candidates of all disciplines. The course provides a structured and comprehensive overview of essential principles, ensuring a solid understanding of responsible research conduct. It is available via ILIAS and is offered in German and English. After completing the learning module, a certificate of participation is available for download. Please note: the self-study course is not recognized by the Medical Faculty. Please have a look at their website to see their own course program.

Who is this course aimed at?

The course is aimed at doctoral candidates of all disciplines. Please note that the Medical Faculty has its own course program and only acknowledge courses from that program. If you are required to take a course on Good Scientific Practice, please consult with your program coordinator or doctoral office on whether they will acknowledge the self-study course.

Which languages are available for the course?

The course is currently available in English. A German version will be available soon. 

Is this course recognized by the Faculty of Medicine?

Registration

How can I register for the self-study course?

You can access the course by loging into ILIAS and then clicking on the course link above. No separate registration is required.

Can I enroll in the course at any time or are there specific enrollment periods?

You may enroll at any convenient time for you. 

I don't have a University of Tübingen email address. Can I still take the self-study course?

You do not need a University e-mail address to take the self-study course. To take the course, you can create a guest account using an email address of your choice.Please find instructions here: https://uni-tuebingen.de/en/278343

Please note: It is not necessary to join the “Program Overview” course and your account does not need to be activated by us. It is enough to register a new account.

I am currently under suspension from the Graduate Academy for not participating in a course. Am I still eligible to take this self-learning course?

Yes, you can still take the self-study course

Course structure

Is there a time limit for completing the course?

There is no time limit for the course. Continue at your own pace and convenience. From time to time, we will update the course and take the old version offline. In this case, we will notify you and you will have enought time to finish the course. Otherwise, you progress will be lost and you have to re-take the course.

Can I pause the course and continue later?

Yes, you can save your progress and come back to continue later. 

Do I need to interact with other participants, or is it fully self-paced?

No, the course is fully self-paced. 

How many attempts are allowed?

You have infinite attempts to try and get the full points. 

Certificate of completion

Where can I download my certificate ?

You can download the certificate from the “Personal Workspace” section on ILIAS (see column on the left).

When can I download my certificate?

You can download your certificate as soon as you have completed the module. Please download your certificate straight away. We cannot guarantee that your certificate will still be there if you don't download it immediately since we have to delete data regularly due to data protection laws. In that case, you would have to take the course again to be able to generate a new certificate.

I can't find my certificate in the dashboard. What should I do?

Please kindly check if you've earned all the points in the module as the certificate will not appear without 100% of the points. 

Please also make sure if you're logged in with the right email address that you registered the course for. If the issue persists, please send us an email.
