This summer, several of our doctoral researchers had the opportunity to spend three months at our partner institutions in Boston. A special highlight of their stay was a joint workshop that brought together doctoral researchers, Principal Investigators, and our RTG spokesperson to exchange ideas, discuss ongoing projects, and strengthen collaborations across the Atlantic.
The workshop provided an excellent opportunity to share research progress, discuss new ideas, and explore future collaborations. It was particularly rewarding to connect not only with our current hosting partners, but also with Boston-based researchers who are not currently supervising GRK doctoral researchers. These conversations sparked new ideas and opened up exciting possibilities for future exchanges and collaborations.
Beyond the scientific program, the workshop created plenty of opportunities for informal exchange. While the presentations and discussions sparked new scientific ideas, the buffet provided a relaxed setting for participants to connect, catch up with colleagues, and continue conversations long after the sessions had ended.
We are especially grateful to the Reinhard Frank Foundation for its generous support, which made both the research stays and the workshop possible. By enabling these international experiences and collaborations, the Foundation makes an invaluable contribution to the training of early-career researchers and the development of long-lasting scientific partnerships.
