Promising doctoral fellows will receive ongoing support from the RTG allowing them to continue their research after completion of the doctoral thesis. The start-up package runs for one year and comes with the own position, as well as funds for consumables, experimental animals, and travel. The selection of the candidates takes place with the participation of all PIs. The candidates are chosen in a comparative manner, based in particular on the following criteria: previous research and publication record, duration of the doctorate, scientific fit and potential for future collaborations with the RTG, and potential for a career as an independent scientist.
The Start-Up Funding candidates will develop her/his own research profile and a competitive project coherent with RTG research interests. The aim of the start-up funding is to promote an excellent junior researcher already at an early career stage, allowing her/him to generate the preliminary data required for securing her/his first external funding.
