Our international RTG colleague Xinxin Zhao attended the 11th International Symposium on Iconicity in Language and Literature, hosted by University of Brighton, UK, 6-8 April, 2017. Organized by the Iconicity Research Project since 1997, this biennial interdisciplinary meeting focuses on iconicity – resemblance mappings between form and meaning – in language and in literature. Xinxin Zhao’s paper “Heart without ‘THE’: An Iconic reading of Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness” was presented at the literature session and received with positive comments and constructive advice.
