Since a fire in 1534, the library has not suffered any major losses, not even in the world wars, so there is a considerable treasure to be found in the archives. This presentation of the historical holdings gives you the rare opportunity to experience special items up close. The variety of writing materials, book forms and themes ranges from medieval chain books to Indian palm leaf manuscripts, richly decorated bindings and much more.
