Major Research Instrumentation according to Art. 91b GG – Information and Funding
Parameters for proposals
Funding is provided by the DFG program for major research instrumentation in accordance with Section 91b, GG (German constitution) and is co-financed by the federal state of the institution.
Applications may be submitted by state-run higher education institutions and non-governmental, accredited higher education institutions.
Review process
Investment projects for university research must demonstrate outstanding scientific quality and national importance.
The scientific equipment must be used primarily for research, i. e., the necessity of its procurement and use must be justified solely by its use in research.
For universities, the amount to be invested must be greater than EUR 200,000. The maximum is EUR 7.5 million.
Application process and deadlines
The prerequisites for submitting a proposal are clarified via an internal assessment.
Please contact the Research Support section (II 2.1) when you begin working on your proposal.
Proposals must be presented to your faculty’s research committee. Please contact your dean’s office in good time to arrange an appointment.
Your contact person for research funding
advises and support you regarding the relevant in-house procedures,
reviews the proposal documents regarding both content and formal aspects,
coordinates the requisite approval by the President’s Office.
After approval by the President’s Office, you/the person responsible for the proposal submits the proposal via the DFG’s elan portal.
There are no deadlines set by the DFG for the submission of proposals.
