UT Research Alumnus Dr. Nima Nezafati celebrates the start of Nowruz by crafting special pieces of art
Dr. Nima Nezafati uses his artistic talents to capture the spirit of renewal and rejuvenation that is associated with this occasion.

About the artist
Dr. Nima Nezafati studied geology and mineralogy at Shahid Beheshti University and the Research Institute for Earth Sciences in Tehran, and mineralogy at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. He received his PhD from the University of Tübingen in 2006 in the Department of Geosciences. In his PhD thesis, he conducted interdisciplinary research on some ore deposits and ancient artifacts from western central Iran, including the ancient Cu-Sn-As-Au mine of Deh Hossein. He investigated ore, host rock and some archaeological remains of the mine using various analytical, petrographic and geological methods. He also evaluated some ancient bronze artifacts from Luristan using trace element as well as isotopic analyses for their correspondences with the ores of the study area.
