About:
The rise of right-wing political parties and ideologies all over the world in the last few decades has come along with a backlash against feminism and queer rights. Public rhetoric in general has increasingly (re-)politicized queer identities, rights, and representation. These dynamics are not restricted to the US, but also manifest themselves in Europe and Germany. Together, our experts will analyze the relationship between the rise of right-wing ideologies and queer rights in the US and Germany today.

Speakers:
Michaela Dudley is an African-American transgender woman living in Berlin, known for her activism in LGBTQ rights. She is a cabaret artist, author, actress, journalist, and lawyer (Juris Dr.).
Prof. Dr. Katrin Horn teaches at the University of Greifswald. Her research explores gender, queerness, and cultural narratives, with a focus on how LGBTQI+ identities are portrayed in literature and media.
The panel discussion will be moderated by an alum of the University of Tübingen.
