Secure Societies

Description

The European Security Union has the following priorities:

  1. Responding to natural and man-made disasters, as well as restoration and reconstruction
  2. Preventing, investigating and prosecuting crime, including organized crime and terrorism
  3. Improved border protection
  4. Protecting infrastructure against natural and human-created threats, including cyber-attacks
  5. General respect for digital security, privacy and data protection
  6. Space-related research.

Innovative systems are a prerequisite for Europe's high safety standard. Research and development in this work program are necessarily practical and require a thorough understanding of phenomena such as radicalization and violence in order to intervene effectively. This requires the inclusion of social sciences and humanities.
