Secure Societies
Description
The European Security Union has the following priorities:
- Responding to natural and man-made disasters, as well as restoration and reconstruction
- Preventing, investigating and prosecuting crime, including organized crime and terrorism
- Improved border protection
- Protecting infrastructure against natural and human-created threats, including cyber-attacks
- General respect for digital security, privacy and data protection
- Space-related research.
Innovative systems are a prerequisite for Europe's high safety standard. Research and development in this work program are necessarily practical and require a thorough understanding of phenomena such as radicalization and violence in order to intervene effectively. This requires the inclusion of social sciences and humanities.
