CIVIS BIP´s Global Migration on the Ground

With the help of Global Awareness Education, lectures and workshops were held at the University of Tübingen where students discussed global migration from a transdisciplinary perspective.

At the beginning of the summer semester, 44 students and 7 lecturers from our CIVIS partner universities visited the University of Tübingen to discuss various aspects of global migration as part of a CIVIS BIP. The participants came from Ecuador, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, China, Nigeria, Senegal and many other countries, and brought their diverse perspectives on the topic of migration to the events.

Lectures and workshops on ethnographic methods were held, offering insight into the daily work of our organizations. One of the workshops “In the Footsteps of Migrants in Tübingen” took the students in 3 different routes around the city, inviting them to think of the trip from the context of migration.  

UNICEF, SOS MEDITERRANEE France, ACTA VISTA, Asylzentrum Tübingen e.V. and the Abteilung Soziales - Fachdienste für Geflüchtete in Tübingen also participated in the event, which not only enriched students´ perspectives of the organizations, it also created new internship opportunities for some of them.
