Buddy Program for Exchange Students

A new city, new language, new system – being an exchange student can feel overwhelming at first. To make things easier, our Buddy Program pairs you with a Tübingen student who’ll help you get settled, show you around, and adjust to life here. Whether it’s tips about the university, navigating the city, or finding fun things to do – your buddy will support you.

What is a buddy partnership?

The Tübingen Buddy will support you during your first time in Tübingen and beyond. Tasks include, for example:

  • Welcome on the day of arrival, if possible
  • Help with check-in at the dormitory
  • Support with administrative steps
  • Joint leisure activities etc.

How do I register for the buddy program as exchange student?

After your admission as an exchange student, you will receive an e-mail from us regarding the Buddy Program with detailed information on how to register.

IESN Tübingen - Meet people. Discover Germany. Make memories.

IESN stands for International Erasmus Student Network. IESN Tübingen is a new student-led group that is currently being established to bring international and local students together. Our aim is to create and open and welcoming community where students can meet new people, experience cultural exchange, and make the most of their time in Tübingen.

Whether you are an exchange student or a local student, you’re welcome to meet people from all over the world!

What can you expect from IESN Tübingen?

We are currently developing a varied programme of social, cultural, and recreational activities. Future activities may include: 

  • Welcome events and informal meetups
  • Game nights and international evenings
  • Trips and excursions in Tübingen
  • Sports, hikes, and other outdoor activities 

As the IESN Tübingen is still being established, our programme will continue to grow and develop. Further information and dates for upcoming events will be announced in good time on this website, through our Instagram account @iesntuebingen, and/or by the Incoming Team of the International Office. 

Our Instagram account is currently being developed and will gradually be filled with event announcements, updates, and further information about IESN Tübingen.

University life is not only about lectures and exams. It is also about the people you meet, the cultures you experience, and the memories you make along the way.

By taking part in IESN Tübingen, you can:

  • Meet students from different countries and backgrounds

  • Make new friends and feel more connected in Tübingen

  • Discover Tübingen, the surrounding region, and other parts of Germany

  • Experience different cultures and perspectives

  • Become part of an open and welcoming international community

You can join our activities at any time and  decide for yourself how involved you would like to be. You are also welcome to attend individual events without becoming an active member of the group.

How to get involved?

Would you like to do more than just attend our events? We are always happy to welcome new volunteers who would like to contribute their ideas, help plan and organize activities, and shape the future of IESN Tübingen together with us.

No previous experience is required. What matters most is an interest in meeting new people, cultural exchange, and helping to build an active international student community. You can get involved at any time, and we look forward to welcoming new volunteers throughout the semester.
