Proof of Spanish or Portuguese language skills

To apply, you must provide proof of your current language skills in Spanish or Portuguese in the form of a language certificate. If you are currently taking a language course at Brechtbau, the Fachsprachenzentrum or the Lateinarmerikazentrum, you will usually receive such a language certificate from your lecturer.

The language certificate for Spanish is also available at the German-American Institute in Tübingen. The test costs 55 € (for d.a.i.-Mitglieder 50 €). Please make sure that the language certificate is signed and has an official seal or stamp. Ask the person issuing the certificate to note in the comments section how your language skills are assessed in relation to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A2, A1, etc.).

Alternatively, you can also submit a UNICERT certificate. The certificate of a passed course at the Foreign Language Center is not sufficient.

At the beginning of your stay abroad, you must generally have at least a B1 level, or B2 at some universities. Further information on language certificates can be found under Sprachnachweise | University of Tübingen
