Deepfakes: Manipulation on Demand?

In the discussion paper ‘Deepfakes: Manipulation on Demand? Evolution of Deepfake Technology, Societal Impact, and the Path Forward’ provides a timely and comprehensive introduction to the technological development of deepfake technology since its emergence in 2017, the breadth of its applications from politics to sexualised deepfakes and deepfakes for criminal purposes, to deepfakes for economic applications, education and satire, as well as regulatory approaches in the EU and beyond to dealing with deepfakes.

The paper was published by the Israel Public Policy Institute (IPPI) and the Heinrich Böll Foundation Tel Aviv.
