Exemption from tuition fees for students of other universities who come to the University of Tübingen for the purpose of temporary research without acquisition of ECTS credits at the University of Tübingen

Exemption from tuition fees because of a temporary stay for research purposes according to § 60 section 1 sentence 7 LHG.

Students and responsible professors can get information on this exemption at “Student Administration” or “Advising and Admission of International Students”.

Who belongs to the group of research students?

You can get an exemption from the tuition fee for international students, if you meet the following conditions:

• You study at a another university, as a rule you study overseas and have a bachelor degree
• You are in Tübingen in order to research for at least one month and need a student status at the University of Tübingen
• You attend no lectures and acquire no ECTS credits

If you meet the above mentioned conditions, you can be matriculated for a temporary stay for research purposes, as a rule one up to two semesters, and are not obliged to pay the tuition fee for international students (see § 24 section 4 admission and enrollment rules of the University of Tübingen). Moreover the responsible faculty has to confirm the purpose of research and that you don’t acquire ECTS credits or program achievements.
