IRex is a fundamental and application-oriented, permanent university research institute that investigates the political and social dimensions of far-right extremism and its embedding in society as a whole inter- and transdisciplinarily at regional, national and international level, thus scientifically addressing one of the core contemporary challenges.

The political science professorship focuses on researching far-right parties, movements, and ideologies in an international, comparative perspective. A central aspect of this task involves examining the ways in which the far right is embedded in everyday culture. Key areas of study include the analysis of far-right extremist organizations and networks, the formation of far-right milieus, the normalisation of far-right ideas, and the resilience of democratic systems.

Both positions involve contributing to research projects within the framework of the professorship as well as independently planning and implementing research projects within the aforementioned areas. Responsibilities also include independent teaching and student supervision, contributing to the transfer of scientific knowledge, supporting organisational tasks and academic self-governance, and active participation in inter- and transdisciplinary research networks and collaborations within and outside IRex. We offer a position in an international and innovative research team, with challenging tasks, considerable creative freedom, and extensive opportunities for further professional development.
