Central Graduation Ceremony

The next University of Tübingen Central Graduation Ceremony takes place on 18 July 2026 at 10:00 am in the ballroom of the Neue Aula, Geschwister-Scholl-Platz, 72074 Tübingen. The keynote speech will be given by Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. Margot Käßmann, Honorary Senator of the University of Tübingen and former bishop and head of the Council of the Protestant Church in Germany. 

All those set to receive their doctorates in the 2025/26 academic year should save this date. Doctoral graduates will receive a separate invitation in or around May 2026 via email from the Public Relations. A look back

On Saturday, 19 July, 2025, the University of Tübingen bade farewell to the 2024/25 doctoral graduates at the annual Central Graduation Ceremony in the Neue Aula. The University President, Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. (Dōshisha) Karla Pollmann and the deans of the faculties presented special certificates to the graduates whose doctoral projects were singled out for faculty awards.

Dr. Miriam Klopotek, independent junior research group leader for Many-Body Simulations and Machine Learning at the University of Stuttgart, gave the keynote speech, titled “The Cloud of Unknowing: A Journey Towards AI With Physics.” The University’s academic wind quintet, coordinated by Wolfgang Sternefeld, played two shanties for wind quintet from opus 4 by Malcom Arnold and “The Metro Suite” by Bill Holcombe.

Die nächste Zentrale Promotionsfeier der Universität Tübingen findet statt am Samstag, dem 18. Juli 2026, um 10:00 Uhr im Festsaal der Neuen Aula, Geschwister-Scholl-Platz, 72074 Tübingen. Die Festrede wird Professorin Dr. Dr. h. c. Margot Käßmann halten, Ehrensenatorin der Universität Tübingen und ehemalige Landesbischöfin Ratsvorsitzende der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland. 

Alle Promovierenden des Studienjahr 2025/26 sollten sich diesen Termin vormerken. Eine gesonderte Einladung erhalten diese voraussichtlich im Mai 2026 durch das Veranstaltungsteam der Hochschulkommunikation per E-Mail.
