Structural Commission of the Senate

The Structural Commission advises the Senate as a central body on all fundamental issues of structural relevance. The Commission deals in particular with approval requests submitted by the faculties for new appointments or reappointments to professorships. Changes to the university's organisational structure, such as the establishment, renaming or dissolution of departments, institutes, centres, or the like, as well as amendments to the nomination of individual professorships, are also discussed by these committee. The decisions of the committee are of a recommendatory nature for the decision-making process regarding individual applications at the Senate meeting. The Structural Commission is also involved in the university's structural and development planning. The Structural Commission ordinarily meets two weeks before the Senate meeting, on Wednesdays at 2.15 p.m. There are approximately 8 meetings per year. There are approximately 8 meetings per year.

Senate Honorary Committee

The Senate Honorary Committee is in charge of giving out honours at the University of Tübingen, especially for nominating honorary senators. It's made up of the rector as head and the other members of the rectorate, as well as former rectorate members who are still in active service, the gender equal opportunities officer, and three academics lecturers, one academic staff member, two students and one other staff member elected by the Senate. The Senate's Honours Committee meets as required, usually every one to two years.

 

Advisory Board of the Information, Communication and Media Centre (IKM Advisory Board)

The responsibilities of the IKM Advisory Board include advising IKM institutions on fundamental questions, in particular recommending guidelines for acquisition, organization and administration in the University Library (UB) and the Central Digital Library (ZDV), and participating in strategic and financial planning. The Advisory Board formulates Recommendations for the IKM Executive Board. The Advisory Board is intended primarily to articulate implement user and development needs. 
The Advisory Board consists of a total of 16 members, comprising:
(a) the member of the Rectorate responsible for the IKM as chairperson,
(b) the Vice-President,
(c) the other members of the IKM Executive Board,
(d) one member each from the Protestant Theology, Catholic Theology, Law, Medicine, Humanities, Economics and Social Sciences, and Mathematics and Natural Sciences faculties and from the Centre for Islamic Theology, 
(e) two student members, 
(f) one member each from the group of academic staff and the group of other staff.  
It meets at a minimum of once per year.
 

 

Award Committee in accordance with the State Graduate Funding Act (LGF)

The award committee consists of representatives from the faculties, a representative of the academic staff, additional members and the university's equal opportunities officer. It is chaired by the Vice-Rector for Research. The committee's task is to decide on applications for individual LGF scholarships, which are discussed on the basis of recommendations from the faculty committees.
Individual scholarships are announced twice a year. Funding starts on 1 April and 1 October of each year. Due to current developments regarding the state's LGF funding for universities, there is currently only one call for applications per year on 1 October, with the advisory meeting taking place in the first quarter of the following year.

 

Admissions Committee pursuant to § 6 of the Admissions and Enrolment Regulations

The Admissions Committee for the consideration of hardship cases and selection in matters of local ties (so-called top athlete quota) as well as non-EU/EEA foreigners in the fields of medicine, dentistry and pharmacy consists of five persons: Two professors, one member of the academic staff, one student, to each have a deputy. The chair is held by the Vice-President for Students, Learning and Teaching. The term of office for members is two years. The group shall include an expert on medical matters. The Admissions Committee meets once per semester, usually at the end of July and the end of January.

 

Senate Gender Equal Opportunities Commission

The Senate Gender Equal Opportunities Commission is an advisory commission of the Senate, composed of equal numbers of members from the groups represented in the Senate. Its tasks include monitoring the effectiveness of Gender Equal Measure and developing proposals for their further implementation. It supports and advises the university and faculty Gender Equal Representative and has the right to nominate candidates for election as University Gender Equal Representative and her deputies to the Senate. The Senate Equality Commission usually meets once or twice per semester under the head of the University Gender Equal Representative. Commission on Scientific Misconduct

The Commission on Scientific Misconduct meets as required. Prior to this, a spokesperson must have concluded that the behaviour reported to them clearly constitutes scientific misconduct and must therefore be investigated by the Commission. It is therefore possible that no meetings will be held for years, while at other times meetings may be held at monthly intervals as necessary, for exemple if more complex issues or questions need to be examined. Scholarship Selection Committee for the Deutschlandstipendium

The scholarship selection committee selects the applicants who will receive funding under the Deutschlandstipendium from among the applications submitted, based on established selection criteria. It also draws up a waiting list for other applicants in case selected applicants do not take up the scholarship.
The scholarship selection committee consists of the president or a person appointed by him/her as chairperson, the deans or persons appointed by them, and the gender equal opportunities officer. The committee meets once a year in the last week of lectures of the winter semester. Representative Assembly of the Tübingen-Hohenheim Student Service

The Representative Assembly of the Tübingen-Hohenheim Student Service, which is responsible for a total of seven universities, meets once a year, usually at the beginning of November. It adopts the constitution of the Student Service, elects the members of the Administrative Board, and receives and reviews the annual report of the managing director and the annual financial statements. On behalf of the University of Tübingen, all full-time members of the Presidents participate ex officio, as well as four faculty members and students elected by vote.
