Schedules and course plans

Complete course catalog / ALMA portal

Most lectures and courses are listed in the online course catalog which is open to the public. To apply for a seminar you have to be enrolled to access the complete course catalog. Personal access data will be sent to you by the Student Administration (“Studierendensekretariat”) after completing enrollment. The IT Center (ZDV) offers introductory training in how to use it.

You can access the public and the complete course catalog via the ALMA portal of the University of Tübingen.

Faculty course advisors

The advisors in the individual subjects (“Studienfachberatung”) answer all questions concerning your academic field. Possible topics can be:

  • course contents
  • study regulations
  • recognition of subject-relevant coursework
  • credits accumulated at another university

Recommended course plan

For every new semester you have to prepare a schedule or course plan. Most faculties give recommendations, as attending certain courses or modules often is obligatory, especially during the first semesters. Recommended course plans help you design your personal schedule.

Alternatively you can approach Student Counseling Service or the individual faculties for help.

Do not forget: You have to enroll to the courses and seminars you have chosen.

Specific information is also given in the exam regulations and module catalogues on the homepages of the faculties. Beware: some of these are quite difficult to understand.

Course registration

As a rule you have to register to the courses and seminars you have chosen via the ALMA portal of the University of Tübingen. A small number of faculties offer other ways to register: Check with the faculties during orientation week or at Student Counseling Service.

The following Alma instructions for course registration can be found on website of the Data Center (ZDV):

  • Instruction: How to register for courses in alma
  • Instruction: How to find out which courses you have been admitted to
  • Instruction: How to bookmark courses in your timetable

Please note that you will also need to register for exams later. You will find detailed information on this in the section Examination phase.
