Of course, a stay abroad should also serve to improve your language skills. However, the main goal is your professional development, i.e. taking courses in your field of study and in the language of the country. You will therefore need a very good knowledge of English before you start your semester abroad.
When applying for a study place in Australia and New Zealand at the International Office, you must provide proof of your current language skills by means of an official language certificate. Only the following language certificates are accepted:
- TOEFL iBT (Attention: TOEFL iBT Home Edition is no longer accepted!)
- IELTS Academic
- DAAD language certificate (available from the English Department of the University of Tübingen or the German-American Institute Tübingen (d.a.i.)).
Important: If your application is successful and you are allocated an exchange place, a TOEFL or IELTS must be submitted for certain host universities.
Please take care of the language certificate in good time before the application deadline! The test dates for both tests are often fully booked weeks in advance.
