Christmas and Medieval Market in Esslingen

The Christmas market in the center of Esslingen is very unique and a wonderful experience since it’s also a medieval market. Esslingen is a well-known medieval town, but in the month before Christmas it seems to travel back 600 years in time to the Middle Ages. In addition to the usual mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, gingerbread, and Christmas ornament stands, there is a wondrous array of medieval products and activities.

Surrounded by the historic half-timbered buildings of Esslingen, you can marvel at performances by jugglers, fire-eaters, storytellers and musicians. Join in the fun and learn a medieval dance or try your hand at archery. Craftsman create and sell pewter dishes, hand-made brooms, and custom-blown glass that make for unique gifts.

No wonder so many people travel to Esslingen during the four weeks of the market!
